AnOtherWiki:Users
Users is simply everyone with an account on AnOtherWiki who has confirmed their email address. If you arrived here from a message saying an action is "limited to users in the group: Users", it means that action needs an account — and getting one takes about two minutes.
Reading never requires an account. Nothing on this wiki is hidden from logged-out visitors.
Why an account is needed to edit
Anonymous editing is turned off here. AnOtherWiki is a small wiki about a small community, and over the years it has been targeted both by automated spam and by people who came specifically to damage it. Requiring an account is the least restrictive thing we found that actually works — it does not limit who may join, it only means edits are attached to a name rather than to a passing IP address.
How to get an account
- Create an account. You will be asked a simple general-knowledge question — that is there to stop bots, not to test you — and for an email address.
- Confirm your email. We send you a link; click it. This is required before your first edit. See Help:Registration.
- Make your first edit. If you would rather practise first, the sandbox is a page you can safely experiment on.
You do not need to know wikitext. The visual editor works much like a word processor; see Help:Editing.
What happens to your first edit
Your first edit is held for a moderator to look at before it appears on the page. This is not a judgement about you — it is a spam filter with a human in it, and everyone's first edit goes through it.
Once a moderator approves that first edit you are promoted automatically, and nothing you write afterwards is held for review. It is a one-time step, not an ongoing restriction.
Reviews are normally done within a day. If yours seems stuck, say so in the Discord server — you can reach us there without an account.
