Ashtae is a remembered word from the Listari language meaning "the area around", "between", or "in the area of". A liminal space, place of interaction between forces, or the realms of possibility. Contextually it relates to the concepts of Des'tai and Nes'tai and the idea that there are multiple possible paths of Des'tai rather than a singular one.
