A metalimb is a term coined by the tumblr otherkin community to replace the term phantom limb which is viewed by some individuals as appropriative of the experience of amputees. In actual fact, non-amputees are known to experience phantom limbs in a medical sense - this is termed supernumerary phantom limbs or pseudopolymelia. It is not generally used by the rest of the otherkin community.
