Cites a post to a Usenet newsgroup. Place it inside <ref>…</ref> tags.
Give the Message-ID whenever you can. It is Usenet's own permanent identifier for a post, it is carried by every archive that holds the group, and it is plain text. Web addresses into any single archive are not durable by comparison: Google Groups has changed its URL format more than once, no longer accepts new Usenet posts, and its captures preserve the message inside a JavaScript payload rather than as readable text. A citation carrying a Message-ID remains usable after any one archive fails.
Fill url in explicitly when a web address exists. The archiving
bot (User:Kleio) reads the url parameter out of the wikitext; it
cannot see an address the template works out for itself.
Author names. Cite the name the post was signed with. Do not add a legal name, even where the post carries one.
