Otherkin: An Unseen World of the Non-Human is an article about otherkin written by Helen Gould for the ezine New Rising Media. Originally, Gould called out both the website Therian Guide and Jarandhel Dreamsinger for refusing to help Gould write the article. Dreamsinger was cited as "Another prominent member of the community, who has been involved for fourteen years" but was not mentioned by name. On Thursday, April 11, 2013 Gould revised the article to remove the portion referring to Dreamsinger, stating "I apologise for doing so. It was disingenous of me. I shall reword the article."[1]

Gould then uses Kai aka Felkes as an example of otherkin, telling her individual story in depth - including the supposed loss of her job for being therian -- before moving on to quote an "ex-otherkin" going simply by "M" and the known troll "ex-otherkin" Melted Snowflake. The article closes with the statements: "Melted Snowflake is actively trying to make others "break away from their old shackles", and firmly believes the entire community is (whether consciously or unconsciously) faking. Whether they are or not, the otherkin community is a small but determined part of internet subculture, and has only been growing since the 90's. How it may develop in coming years remains to be seen."

Initially, the article included three images: a photoshopped version of the headline image from the Gawker article From Otherkin to Transethnicity: Your Field Guide to the Weird World of Tumblr Identity Politics, Tree Otherkin by Janice 'Mystral' Kelly, and Blick nach vorn by Nazgul-w. These images were used without attribution, and apparently without permission, and were removed from the article on Thursday, April 11, 2013. Gould claims that she had no role in choosing the images.[2]
